#Blacklivesmatter and #BringBackOurGirls

Social media has this year played a big part in black people all over the world voicing their concerns about some of 2014’s most frightening stories…

#BlackLivesMatter really makes the point with a message that it is not acceptable for black people to be brutalised and murdered in America, expecially by the police. The deaths of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner and Michael Brown brought people onto the streets, making it clear that they will no longer put up with this. Here at Afrowoman’s ezine.com we raised the question “Are Black men in America under attack?” We definitely had some honest comments on social media from people who are demanding change.

#BringBackOurGirls – it’s heartbreaking that these girls have been kidnapped and although vaious reports say that some escaped- there is no solid confirmation that these girls are back home! With high-profile campaigns involving Michelle Obama, actors, musciains – this campaign has swept the world. Still the girls are not home. Will 2015 be any different? Please keep praying…

So for any negatives that people might think about social media, it has given a loud voice to these issues that mainstream media might want to forget.
