Keeping Your Home Workout Routine Going Even In The Summer

The weather is starting to turn, to get brighter and hotter, and it’s going to change the way we live our home lives. If you have been exercising from home, then you had better believe that extra heat and humidity can be a challenge. As such, here are a few ways to make sure that you’re able to stay cool, healthy, and safe as you workout through the summer.

Get up nice and early

If you want to avoid the hottest parts of the day, then you should make sure that you’re not waiting until the sun is high in the sky. It can be something of a challenge to get up so early in the morning, we all know that. However, if you arrange for an early complete bedtime routine, then you’re a lot more likely to wake up feeling rested and full of energy. Make sure you have a good nutritious breakfast waiting for you first thing in the morning and it’s not really that difficult to get an early start.

Stay cool

Overheating isn’t good for your health, as it can lead to dehydration. Aside from hydrating as best as possible throughout your workouts, you should also look at keeping your workout environment cool. Take a look at your cooling appliances and invest in some emergency AC repair if you’re not getting the cool air that you need. Use shades to keep the sun out while you’re working out. Stay dressed in lightweight and light-colored clothes that are going to absorb less light, as well.

Mind how you push yourself

Aside from where you exercise and the qualities of the environment around you, it’s important to make some adjustments to how you exercise. For one, you shouldn’t aim to be working out for longer in the summer. The heat and humidity drain your stamina much more quickly, making it harder to keep up with your goals. Rather, you should look at high-intensity interval training exercises that you can do. These can help you achieve just as much as a longer workout (or even more in some cases,) but in a shorter time. Try not to push yourself too hard, either. Everything becomes a lot more demanding on your body in high temperatures.

Get outside

If it’s feeling a little too hot and stuffy in the home, then why not get out of it? Working out in the fresh air feels great and there’s no better time for it. It’s especially good to get out for cardio exercises like running and cycling. However, the same tips apply. Try to get out earlier in the morning when the sun isn’t as high in the sky. Make sure that you’re wearing the necessary protections, too. Regardless of your skin tone, sunscreen is recommended, so make sure you get a high enough SPF and UV-A and B ray protection.

The extra sunshine and heat can really be a boon to your workout, not just an obstacle. With the tips above, think about how you can use the summer to improve your workout, not just how to work around it.
